Inspira Studios based out of Watsonville, CA screened their documentary, Strawberry Picker at UC Merced for Latinx Heritage Month in collaboration with the Monterey Bay ACF and UC Merced’s Division of Equity, Justice and Inclusive Excellence. The film is about renowned Chicano artist, Juan R. Fuentes, and chronicles his journey from working in labor camps as a child to his return home to create a tile mural of his artwork with the Watsonville community. After the screening, there was a strawberry themed food and beverage reception. There was even a California Wheat Strawberry Beer, thanks to the generosity of Tioga Sequioa Brewing.
